The Apple Watch Faces I Can’t Have (But Still Want)
Source: Facer
While scrolling through Instagram, I’m often served ads for apps like Facer and Facet—platforms that promise jaw-dropping Apple Watch faces. Normally, I scroll past them. My logical side usually wins the argument: “They’re not real watch faces, just widgets, and they won’t do what you want.” Case closed.
But the other day, one ad got me. I caved.
Curiosity got the better of me, and I downloaded one of the apps. After entering my email, I was presented with a lineup of “grey area” designs—faces that blatantly mimic iconic styles like Casio. Honestly, most of them looked pretty rough. But still, I couldn’t shake the desire to put them on my Apple Watch. The truth is, I probably wouldn’t even keep them for long. It’s not about long-term use—it’s about having the freedom to try them out whenever I want.
I picked a face and tried to add it to my Apple Watch.
Nothing.
I went back to the app. It showed me a feedback form. Strange.
I tried again. Still nothing—just back to the feedback screen. After a few attempts, I gave up and deleted the app. Disappointing, but the experience made something crystal clear: I really do want third-party watch faces, no matter how many options Apple gives us.
The truth is, Apple’s curated collection—while polished—is limited. There’s no room for retro, or geeky watch faces. I want my watch to reflect me. And as Facer’s website boldly puts it: Your Watch, Your Style.
I couldn’t agree more.
